Shanice lost 58 pounds | Black Women Weight Loss Success

Shanice lost 58 pounds. After giving birth, she worked out five days a week and changed her eating habits with help from a nutritionist and dietician. Her goal is to be an active mother now and an active grandmother and great-grandmother in the future.

What was your motivation?

My motivation is to stay active for my kids, my future grandkids, and my future grandkid’s kids.

What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?

My kids, health, and well-being kept me going even when I wanted to give up.

How did you change your eating habits?

I still eat a minimum of fatty and/or sugary foods (only GOD can judge me) while eating a healthier diet of fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, and protein shakes. When I visited my nutritionist and dietician, I learned about my BMI (body mass index) and how many calories I needed to intake per my age, height, and weight (all while watching my portion sizes of each meal).

Also, my coach, aka my sister: IG: @shaeceriously_fit/FB: @ashabattle, introduced me to TLC’s “Get Fit” package and the NASM Edge App.

What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?

My workout routine consists of modified aerobics and cardio for 20 – 30 minutes. I work out five days a week.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?

Starting weight (post pregnancy): 218 pounds

Current weight: 160 pounds

What is your height?

5’7″

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?

I started my journey in April 2020 [seven months after she had her son], and it took me six months to transform.

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?

No surgery. My weight loss is all-natural.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?

The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is that patience is the key to success. Without it, you may never get what you deserve.

What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?

The advice I have for women who want to lose weight is that you do not have to “hurry up” to lose weight for yourself or anyone else. Take your time. Follow the right steps that are best for your body, mind, and soul.

Before I decided to change my body, I changed my mindset on how I view exercise and how my soul keeps telling me to keep up with my kids. I look at my body like a book: I will keep preserving the chapters of my life, and I’ll add as many chapters as God will allow me to add so that I can continue to be active for my kids, my grandkids, and my grandkid’s kids.
