Nerissa lost 116 pounds | Black Women Weight Loss Success

Nerissa lost 116 pounds. Initially, she just wanted to be a healthier and more active mom. She had gastric sleeve surgery in 2019 and transformed her lifestyle. Now, she is on a mission to be her best self and inspire other women to do the same.

What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?

My inspiration was getting healthier and being more active for my children. Now, my motivation is to be my best self and help other women do the same!

July 2019 to present

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?

I had gastric sleeve weight loss surgery (VSG) in July 2019.

How did you change your eating habits?

I eat small portions high in protein and super low carb. I don’t have a daily goal for carbs, just try to stay away from them, but I do consume 40 grams of protein.

What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?

I walk 3-5 miles a day and do resistance exercises.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?

My starting was 274 pounds, and my current weight is 158 pounds.

What is your height?

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?

Don’t be discouraged by plateaus. Your body is still working and losing. Be patient and give it time.
