John Goodman stopped drinking alcohol, avoided sugary food items, changed his diet, and hired a personal trainer to undergo a serious weight loss. Doing so, he succeeded in pulling off an incredible 100 pounds of weight loss. Among these changes, abstinence from alcohol helped John drop his weight greatly. 'It was the answer for a lot of problems. I hit it hard for 30 years,' John told David Letterman in a 2010 interview. 'There's a lot of residual damage, and I'm just trying to pick up the pieces now.'

John Goodman's Diet Changes Contributed a Lot to His Weight Loss


For his diet, John Goodman focused on portion control and also reducing his sugar intake. 'It was basically just portion control, and 'I don't need it,' John talked about his diet plan with AARP The Magazine. 'I was just shoving everything into my mouth." He hired a personal trainer, Michael Shilstone, and began to work out. He began with low-impact exercises, and gradually he increased the intensity of the workouts he did. Now, he works out six days a week and does a combination of boxing and cardio workouts. 'I'm breaking a sweat, but I'm not going nuts,' he told People.
